Sonographer(Ultrasound Technician)
Duties and Responsibilities: Diagnostic medical sonographers and cardiovascular technologists and technicians, including vascular technologists, operate special imaging equipment to create images or conduct tests. The images and test results that diagnostic imaging workers produce help physicians assess and diagnose medical conditions. Some technologists assist physicians and surgeons during surgical procedures.
Average Salary: $60,350 per year
Educational Requirement: Colleges and universities offer both associate’s and bachelor’s degree programs in sonography and in cardiovascular and vascular technology. One-year certificate programs also are available from colleges or in hospitals, although these are usually useful only to those who are already employed in related healthcare jobs, such as a radiation therapist.

Respiratory Therapy Assistant
Duties and Responsibilities: Respiratory therapists care for patients who have trouble breathing—for example, from a chronic respiratory disease, such as asthma or emphysema. Their patients range from premature infants with undeveloped lungs to elderly patients who have diseased lungs. They also provide emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock.
Average Salary: $55,900
Educational Requirement: Respiratory therapists need at least an associate’s degree, but employers may prefer applicants who have a bachelor’s degree. Many colleges and universities, vocational–technical institutes, and the Armed Forces offer education and training programs. Most programs award an associate’s or bachelor’s degree. All programs have clinical components that allow therapists to earn course credit and gain supervised, practical experience treating patients.

Duties and Responsibilities: Recreational therapists plan, direct, and coordinate recreation-based treatment programs for people with disabilities, injuries, or illnesses. Recreational therapists use a variety of modalities, including arts and crafts, drama, music, dance, sports, games, and community reintegration field trips to help maintain or improve a patient’s physical, social, and emotional well-being.
Average Salary: $45,000
Educational Requirements: Most recreational therapists need a bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy or a related field. Though less common, associate’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees are also available.

Recreational therapy programs include courses in assessment, human anatomy, medical and psychiatric terminology, characteristics of illnesses and disabilities, and the use of assistive devices and technology. Bachelor’s degree programs usually include an internship.

Duties and Responsibilities: Optometrists treat vision problems.  They treat vision problems by diagnosing the problem and then prescribing corrective eyeglasses, contact lenses, or vision therapy. Some optometrists specialize in industrial vision safety, treatment of vision related learning disabilities, and environmental vision care.
Average Salary:  $78,000
Educational Requirement: Students interested in becoming an optometrist should take the most challenging high school courses (AP or IB) available in math, science, and English.  Before entering an optometry school at least two years of college in a pre-professional program is required.  Optometry school is four years in length.
